Top 5 Geekiest Bands!

As as audiophile I'm always looking for the best and greatest of music, and the other day I realized that much of the music I listen to falls within the realm of geek/nerd. Here are the top five bands that I think deserve the geeky-nerd title.

Symphony of Science - This is my ultimate go-to band for anything science and nerdy. The creator of symphony of science, John D. Boswell had a goal to bring scientific knowledge and philosophy to the public in a new way through the medium of music -- and it's brilliant! Check it out my favorite piece 'Children of Africa'

You can find other songs like, 'We are Star Dust', 'A Wave of Reason' and 'The Poetry of Reality' on John's YouTube channel, Melody Sheep. Led Zeppelin - If you haven't heard of Led Zeppelin, I'm not sure where you've been for the last 44 years. Now, Led Zeppelin might not be the first band you think of when you hear the word nerdy or geeky, but if you take a look at their music, you might be surprised to find references to one of geekdoms finest works, Lord of the Rings. Take a listen at their song, Ramble On:
Other songs that reference Tolkien and the Lord of the Rings are Misty Mountain Hop and The Battle of Evermore. Now go and listen to some classic rock (with a tinge of geeky)! Felicia Day - The ultimate girl nerd with +10 to being a ginger! This woman is unreal, from starring in her own web-series to creating a YouTube channel and inspiring millions of nerdy and geek women, Felicia Day has done something no other geeky lady did -- make geeky girls cool. Yes, she may not actually be a 'band,' but she gets the exception because of her awesomeness. Check out her MMORPG-inspired video, 'Do You Want to Date My Avatar?'
For other Felicia Day goodness check these links out:
Chameleon Circuit - What is Chameleon Circuit you may ask? Well, if you don't already know, go watch this show. Chameleon Circuit is one of the top bands in the genre of Trock (Time Lord Rock) and takes Doctor Who fandom to a whole new level. Check out hits like The Doctor is Dying, The Sound of Drums and one of my new favorites, Exterminate Regenerate.
Weird Al Yankovic - This list would not be complete without the ultimate master in parody, our favorite curly-haired artist, Weird Al Yankovic. Weird Al has been performing since 1976 (that's 36 years for all of you who are counting), and given us such hits as Amish ParadisePerform this Way. and the star-ward parody The Saga Begin." For me, Weird Al came into geekdom with his parody, White and Nerdy:
